- Getting started: what WordPress is, choosing hosting and a domain, and installing it.
- Building the site: themes, the block editor, menus, pages and posts.
- Plugins: what to install, what to skip, and how to keep plugins safe.
- SEO: settings, titles and descriptions, sitemaps and structure.
- Speed and security: caching, images, backups, updates and logins.

It’s based on 20 years of building WordPress websites since 2006, across 500+ web projects of every type and size.
Who it’s for
- Beginners building a first website, whether it’s a blog, a business site or a small store.
- Bloggers and site owners who already use WordPress and want to run it faster, safer and with better SEO.
- Freelancers who build WordPress sites for clients and want a repeatable process.
No coding is needed. Where a step involves code, the guide shows exactly what to copy and where, and explains what it does.
How it’s different
Every step follows the same standard as the guides on this site: instructions checked against the official WordPress documentation and each tool’s own pages, real screenshots, and dates on anything that changes, like prices and plan limits. The guide covers free options first and says plainly when a paid tool is worth it.
