A2 Hosting Review (2026): Now Hosting.com, Plans, Prices and Verdict

My verdict: A2 Hosting is now Hosting.com. Shared plans start at $2.99 a month on 1 year or $1.99 on 4 years (regular $13.99), with daily backups, malware removal, free SSL, a free first-year domain and free managed migration. Managed VPS starts at $48 a month. A 30-day money-back guarantee and no contracts make it low-risk.

How I tested: Plans, prices and inclusions read from Hosting.com's own pricing system (the data behind its package comparison page), its home, hosting, comparison and About pages on 11 October 2026; Hostinger, Bluehost and Kinsta figures from their own pages the same day for earlier packs. No new account was opened and no speed tests were run for this update. The rating is an editorial score from these checks (features, value, terms, fit for bloggers), not a hands-on test.

What happened to A2 Hosting?

A2 Hosting was founded in 2003 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and built its name on speed and support. Hosting.com’s About page tells the rest: the business expanded with local teams such as Kenya Web Experts and EYHost, then brought World Host Group and A2 Hosting together under the Hosting.com brand. It has since acquired Rocket.net, the managed WordPress host, to strengthen its high-performance WordPress hosting. Today Hosting.com says it has 700,000+ clients, 3 million+ websites, 800+ staff and 10 offices serving 181 countries.

For existing A2 customers, the practical change is the name, the website and the plan line-up; your old a2hosting.com links lead to hosting.com. For new customers, judge the plans as they are now, which is what this review does.

Shared hosting plans and prices

Hosting.com’s shared hosting has three plans. Every plan includes email, security, daily backups, malware detection and removal, a free SSL certificate, a free domain registration for the first year, free managed migration, an AI website builder for WordPress, and API and MCP access for developers.

Hosting.com shared hosting, first term versus regular price. Starter, 5 websites and 15 GB NVMe: $2.99 a month on 1 year, $1.99 on 4 years, regular $13.99. Pro, 10 websites, 50 GB and staging: $4.99 on 1 year, $3.79 on 4 years, regular $19.99. Max, 50 websites, 100 GB and an SLA: $9.49 on 1 year, $7.79 on 4 years, regular $27.99.
First-term prices are paid up front for the whole term.
Hosting.com shared hosting: monthly price by first term, and the regular price
Plan1 year2 years3 years4 yearsRegular (monthly)
Starter$2.99$2.79$2.49$1.99$13.99
Pro$4.99$4.79$3.99$3.79$19.99
Max$9.49$8.94$7.99$7.79$27.99

First-term prices are per month, paid up front for the whole term (Starter on 1 year: $35.88; on 4 years: $95.49). The regular price is what the plan costs per month without the first-term discount. Hosting.com says the renewal price is shown before you buy.

  • Starter: 5 websites, 15 GB of NVMe storage, unlimited bandwidth and capacity for about 50,000 page views a month.
  • Pro: 10 websites, 50 GB of NVMe storage, more CPU and RAM, staging sites and preview URLs, for about 150,000 page views a month.
  • Max: 50 websites, 100 GB of NVMe storage, the most CPU and RAM, 40 mailboxes, a service level agreement, a premium SSL certificate and priority support, for about 500,000 page views a month.

The value is in the first term: Starter at $1.99 to $2.99 a month with daily backups and malware removal is good for a new blog. The catch is the gap to the regular price ($13.99 a month for Starter), so the longer first term usually works out cheaper overall. Pro is the plan most growing blogs want, because staging lets you test updates safely.

Managed VPS and dedicated servers

When a site outgrows shared hosting, Hosting.com offers its own cloud servers (VPS), managed or unmanaged, and fully managed dedicated “bare metal” servers, on the same platform, so you can move up without re-platforming.

Hosting.com managed servers at regular monthly prices. Managed VPS: 4 GB $48 or $40 yearly, 8 GB $59 or $50, 16 GB $119 or $100, 32 GB $239 or $200. Managed dedicated: DS1 $299 or $269 yearly, DS2 $399 or $359, DS3 $599 or $549.
From Hosting.com’s pricing system, checked 11 October 2026.
  • Managed VPS: 4 GB from $48 a month ($40 billed yearly, 100 GB storage), 8 GB $59 ($50 yearly, 150 GB), 16 GB $119 ($100 yearly, 300 GB) and 32 GB $239 ($200 yearly, 400 GB), with unlimited websites. A 10% promotion was showing on these when we checked.
  • Managed dedicated: DS1 $299 a month ($269 billed yearly), DS2 $399 ($359) and DS3 $599 ($549), with 900 GB of usable storage and 5 to 15 TB of monthly bandwidth, plus account management and SLAs.

Hosting.com suggests its own server when you need PCI standards for a store, custom PHP or MySQL limits, a dedicated IP or staging you control, or want to run AI applications.

What the managed VPS includes

Hosting.com’s managed servers run an optimised cPanel/WHM stack secured with CloudLinux, Monarx malware protection, a firewall, daily backups and anycast DNS. They use AMD EPYC processors and NVMe drives, run the LiteSpeed web server (with LiteMage caching), support all major PHP versions and Node.js, and allow unlimited websites and email accounts. Hosting.com says its servers give true resource isolation rather than container-based virtualisation, run mostly in Equinix data centres, come with a 99.99% uptime guarantee and can be placed in any of 10 data centres. It also says it already runs more than 20,000 managed cPanel servers for customers. You can scale up at any time as your site grows.

What the dedicated servers include

The dedicated “bare metal” servers give you a whole machine: nothing is virtualised or shared, and you get a dedicated 1 Gbps network connection, with 10 Gbps available as an upgrade. On managed plans Hosting.com handles cPanel, updates, patching, monitoring and security; every configuration also comes self-managed with full root access if you’d rather run it yourself. The newest AMD EPYC servers are in stock in Dallas, with more than 10 other locations available on request, and storage starts at a 480 GB boot disk plus two 960 GB NVMe drives, with up to 16 TB available.

Maintenance for WordPress

If you’d rather not look after WordPress yourself, Hosting.com sells a Maintenance for WordPress add-on for any WordPress site it hosts, on shared or server plans. Its engineers handle WordPress, WooCommerce, theme and plugin updates (staged and tested before they go live), unlimited bug fixes and malware removal, vulnerability monitoring with priority patches, 24/7 monitoring and twice-daily backups, with 24/7 support by ticket, chat or phone. It’s billed monthly or yearly with no minimum contract; the price is shown at checkout. It suits business owners who want a hands-off site without moving to a premium managed host.

Speed and performance

A2 Hosting was known for speed, and Hosting.com still leads with it: NVMe storage on every plan, AMD EPYC processors and the LiteSpeed web server on its managed servers. We didn’t run new speed tests for this update, so treat performance claims as the company’s own. The fair test is your site: move it with the free migration, check your page speed in the first month, and use the money-back guarantee if it disappoints.

Guarantees, billing and support

  • 30-day money-back guarantee on its hosting, so you can try it and cancel within a month.
  • 99.9% uptime SLA, which Hosting.com describes as “backed by proof, not promises”.
  • Flexible billing: monthly, annual or multi-year, with no contract or early-termination fee, and the renewal price shown before you buy.
  • 24/7 in-house support, plus an AI assistant for quick answers.
  • Free managed migration from your current host.

That combination (a full month to get your money back, migrations done for you and no lock-in) makes it a low-risk host to try.

Hosting.com for WordPress

Every shared plan runs WordPress and includes Hosting.com’s AI website builder for WordPress. For a blog, the practical checklist is covered: daily backups, malware removal, free SSL and a free domain for the first year; Pro adds staging. Hosting.com also offers a managed WordPress maintenance service, and since buying Rocket.net it owns one of the best-known managed WordPress platforms; see our list of the best managed WordPress hosting for Rocket.net’s plans. What it really costs over five years

Hosting prices look very different once the first term ends, so here’s the Starter plan worked out with Hosting.com’s own numbers, next to Hostinger’s WordPress plan:

Five-year cost, entry plans (prices checked 11 October 2026)
PlanFirst 4 yearsYear 55-year total
Hosting.com Starter (4-year term)$95.49$167.88 at $13.99/mo$263.37
Hosting.com Starter (1-year terms)$35.88, then $167.88 a year$167.88$707.40
Hostinger WordPress (48 months)$143.52$131.88 at $10.99/mo$275.40

Year 5 assumes the regular or renewal monthly price for 12 months; taxes and domain renewals are extra. Your actual renewal price is shown before you buy.

Two lessons. First, the long first term is where Hosting.com wins: four years of Starter cost less up front than Hostinger’s 48 months, and the two are close over five years. Second, paying year by year is expensive, because only the first year is discounted. If you’re confident in your blog, take the longer term; if not, start on one year and rely on the 30-day guarantee to test it.

Moving from an old A2 Hosting plan

If you already host with A2, your account now sits with Hosting.com. Check your next renewal invoice for the plan name and price, compare it with the current Starter, Pro and Max plans above, and ask support whether moving to a current plan saves you money. Keep your own backup before any plan change, even though daily backups are included.

A2 Hosting pros and cons

What we like: low first-term prices with daily backups and malware removal included; a 30-day money-back guarantee; free managed migration; no contracts; staging on Pro; a clear path to managed servers on the same platform. What we don’t: the regular price is several times the first-term price ($13.99 against $1.99 to $2.99 for Starter); Starter’s 15 GB is modest; and the rebrand means much older advice about “A2 Hosting” plans and Turbo servers no longer matches what’s on sale.

Hostinger costs less over four years ($10.99 renewal against Hosting.com’s $13.99 regular price), while Hosting.com includes daily backups and free managed migration on every plan. Our best WordPress hosting ranking and cheap WordPress hosting list compare them in detail, and the Bluehost review covers Bluehost’s renewals.

Which Hosting.com plan should you choose?

  • One new blog: Starter on the longest term you’re comfortable with. Five websites and 15 GB is plenty for a first site.
  • A blog you’re growing or a small business site: Pro, for staging, 50 GB and roughly 150,000 page views a month.
  • Several client or business sites: Max, for 50 websites, 40 mailboxes, priority support and an SLA.
  • A busy store, custom apps or PCI needs: a managed VPS from 4 GB, or a managed dedicated server for steady heavy traffic.

Whichever plan you pick, note the regular price shown before checkout, and use the 30-day money-back guarantee to test speed and support with your own site.

Who should choose Hosting.com

  • Good fit: new blogs and small business sites happy to pay for two to four years up front; site owners who want daily backups, malware removal and free migration included; and growing sites that may later need a managed server from the same company.
  • Look elsewhere: anyone who only wants to pay monthly at the lowest price (the regular price is high), and big WordPress businesses that want a premium managed platform from day one.

Is A2 Hosting (Hosting.com) worth it? Our verdict

Yes, on a long first term. Hosting.com keeps what made A2 Hosting popular (strong features, real support, free migrations) and adds a 30-day money-back guarantee, no contracts and a clear upgrade path to managed servers. Starter at $1.99 to $2.99 a month is a solid start for a new blog, and Pro’s staging makes it the better pick for a site you’re growing. Budget for the regular price after the first term, compare it with Hostinger’s renewal, and use the 30-day guarantee to make sure it’s right for you.
